In the same distance you can also reach the Alta Badia ski resort and the Sillian-Alta Pusteria ski centre in Austria.

Cross-Country Skiing in Gsies in the Holiday Region Plan de Corones
40 km of perfectly groomed cross-country tracks lead through the vast Gsies and through a quiet winter landscape. Iced plants, glittering snow crystals and the sparkling sun enchant all visitors during the winter months. The guesthouses and inns along the route look after your physical wellbeing and serve hot apple juice and cake. If you are really hungry you should try a typical South Tyrolean afternoon snack with local sausages, cold meat slices and cheese.
The Knödel Marathon provides a special highlight during winter: in the guesthouses along the route guests can taste all variations of Knödel (Souh Tyrolean dumplings).
When the snow conditions are good you can get to Tesido and Monguelfo with your skis on. There you will find another 200 km of cross-country tracks leading to Alta Pusteria and right into the Dolomites.
The highlight of the ski season in Gsies is the biggest public cross-country ski race in South Tyrol, the "Gsiesertal-Lauf". Every year thousands of cross-country skiers take the challenge and don't want to miss this unique event in a very special valley.

The cross-country paradise Gsies is part of the Dolomiti Nordicski carousel with over 1,300 km of cross-country tracks. With a single cross-country track pass you can discover all routes.
Winter Hiking and Sledging Fun
Many alpine huts and guesthouses in Gsies are also open in winter, since the access roads to the huts are ideal for extended hikes or sledging in winter.

And also hikers will find everything they long for: sun, cleared winter paths, snow wherever you look and the possibility of warming up in a traditional alpine hut or guesthouse. Once you reach the huts you can enjoy traditional dishes prepared with love!
All those who prefer not to hike up can try the toboggan runs at Monte Baranci (20 km) in San Candido and Croda Rossa (30 km) in Sesto, where you can ascend with the cable cars.
